Growing up, I had the privilege to learn business from my grandfather and father. At an early age, I quickly understood the skill and passion required to operate a business. The loved ones I looked up to didn’t have to tell me that running a business was hard work.
After high school, I attended Southern Methodist University and graduated in 2003. Following graduation, I began my career in sales and account management, ultimately ascending to the role of Vice President at a small engineering firm.
In 2010, I leaped into the entrepreneurial world, by starting my first business, Cam-Air. Looking back on this, it was a huge risk. I was newly married, had a one-year-old daughter and only a $10,000 credit card to my name. There was no ‘Plan B’ and never thought that this endeavor wouldn’t work. From day one, I hit on the phones and created something out of nothing. A few years later, I was able to secure business with industry giants such as Walmart, Boeing and major Midwest utility, Ameren.
By 2016, I co-founded a new business, Bay Energy, where we focused on providing energy efficient technologies and consulting to commercial and industrial facilities around the nation. We saved millions for small business, as well as industry titans such as Under Armour, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, ACE Hardware and CBRE.
I learned a lot about growing & operating a business in these years and wanted to further sharpen my skills. I set a goal to obtain a master’s degree in business administration. In spring of 2021, I achieved said goal and obtained my MBA with a finance concentration from Duke University: Fuqua School of Business.
I am passionate about business development, operations and all the details of small business. Running a business is extremely difficult, tugging you in every which way, pushing you to your limits mentally, emotionally, and physically. I have been there. I may be a glutton for punishment, but I want to do this again. However, I want to skip the start-up phase and buy an existing business to grow.
Outside of work, I have a wife and five children, so any ‘me’ time is limited—and I love it that way. Every blue moon, I get a chance to fish or golf.
